You may feel that you can't possibly save any money with economy taking its cut already but there are small ways you can make your money stretch and grow. Make a list of how much money comes into your household as well as what ALL your expenses are each month. You should have excess money at the end of the month. If you find there is no excess, look at what kind of expenses can be eliminated and you will find some. I did this with on a Quick books spread sheet that provided a graph and chart. Start your savings goal small by putting away 10% of your excess amount. It may not seem like much but will add up in time. For a bolder approach, try putting 50% of your income into savings. You're probably thinking this is impossible. However, if you suddenly lost your job like millions of others have, you'd get unemployment benefits, which are half of your current income. You would be living on half of your income by necessity. Why not trying doing it while it's still by choice?
